Hotel Rating
Hotels with a JG3 rating tend to be a more formal style of hotel, often part of a hotel chain, or are very-welcoming family-owned properties. Generally, they offer a greater range of facilities and services, and bedrooms tend to be a little more spacious with additional features. Public areas are larger and include lounge seating, bar and restaurant with good quality food served either buffet style or waiter service.
Itinerary
Day 1 - We catch the ferry from Holyhead to Dublin where we meet our tour manager. We continue onwards to our hotel in Belfast, our base for the next two nights.
Day 2 - Today our tour manager takes us on a guided tour of Belfast, Northern Ireland’s most famous city, and now a thriving, modern metropolis with a colourful history – as a key player in the Industrial Revolution; it was the centre for the Irish linen and tobacco industries. We take in the highlights before visiting Titanic Belfast, a fantastic exhibition located on the site of the original shipyard in which the famous liner was built. The exhibition brings the maiden voyage of the Titanic to life in the place where it all began.
Day 3 - We make our way to the Giant’s Causeway, named for the enormous volcanic columns that make this National Trust-owned site such an incredible place to visit. From here we head to Derry~Londonderry – the only completely walled city in Ireland. We enjoy a guided walking tour with our tour manager where highlights include the gleaming Peace Bridge across the River Foyle and St Columb’s cathedral. Later, we check in to our Donegal hotel where we spend the night.
Day 4 - Leaving Donegal, we travel to the pretty coastal town of Sligo. Surrounded by rugged landscapes, Sligo boasts a castle, medieval abbey, traditional pubs and plenty of shopping opportunities.
Next stop is Galway where we enjoy a guided tour with our tour manager. This thriving, cosmopolitan destination was named European Capital of Culture in 2020. It may be the fastest growing city in Ireland but it has managed to retain its friendly atmosphere. We continue on to our hotel.
Day 5 - We head for Limerick where we enjoy a guided city tour with our tour manager. Set on the River Shannon, Limerick is overlooked by the 13th-century King John’s Castle and has a rich history, which we learn about on our tour. From here we travel to our hotel in Tralee, the county town of County Kerry, where we spend the next two nights.
Day 6 - Our tour manager takes us on a scenic guided tour of the Ring of Kerry, journeying through an untouched landscape of tranquil lakes and rolling hills, passing through charming towns such as Killorglin, Waterville and Kenmare. We then head to pretty Killarney, famed for its jaunting cars (horse-drawn carts) operated by the local jarvies that take visitors on guided tours of the town.
Day 7 - Finally, we head to Dublin and enjoy a guided tour with our tour manager. With its fascinating past, iconic landmarks and plethora of convivial pubs serving up the perfect pint of Guinness, Dublin never fails to charm its visitors. After our guided tour we enjoy free time in the city before spending the night in our hotel in the Dublin area.
Day 8 - We check out of our hotel very early to catch the ferry back to Holyhead; therefore a voucher will be provided to enjoy breakfast on board. On arrival in Holyhead, we continue our journey home.

Royal Deeside
Royal Deeside is an area that captivated Queen Victoria due to its stunning landscape of moody mountains and shimmering rivers. We enjoy these breathtaking panoramas during our excursion and visit some of the region’s most picturesque villages:
We start in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park for a visit to the delightful Scottish village of Braemar. This lovely village is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery, beautiful glens and pine forests, while the centre features an array of boutique shops, medieval ruins and castles.
We continue on to Crathie, which sits on the banks of the River Dee and is set against the mountainous backdrop of Lochnagar. The village is famous for its granite kirk which was built in 1895 and is the Royals' local church when staying at Balmoral.
Our final stop is the village of Ballater, which sits in the heart of Royal Deeside, known for its spring water and is the nearest community to Balmoral Castle. Take a stroll to admire the historic buildings, browse the Ballater Gallery or visit the Royal Station to discover the restored royal waiting room, which re-opened in August 2018, after a devastating fire.
Stonehaven & Aberdeen
Today we travel to Stonehaven, a picturesque harbour town on the North East coast of Scotland. Here we can discover the Stonehaven Tolbooth Museum, stroll along the sheltered harbour to enjoy the fresh sea air or simply sit back and relax in one of the lovely cafés or restaurants.
Next, we return to Aberdeen for some free time in the ‘Granite City’. Described as "one of the most architecturally distinctive cities in Europe" thanks to its sparkling Granite buildings and monuments.
There’s plenty to discover, from Old Aberdeen, with its cobbled streets and 15th-century cathedral, to the quirky fishing quarter of Footdee at the water’s edge, and the many shops dotted along the mile-long Union Street.
The Banffshire Coast (£15pp)
On our optional excursion, we take in the sandy bays, rugged cliffs, quaint seaside towns and historic fishing villages that make up Scotland’s Banffshire Coast. Located on the stunning Banff Bay, the county town of Banff is a delight to explore and has attracted visitors for centuries. The old harbour, which has been developed as a marina is well worth a visit, or head to Banff Museum to admire some of the oldest surviving silver teapots in Scotland or browse some local works on display.
We continue onto Fraserburgh, a major fishing port and a busy commercial harbour that holds the mainland British wind speed record! There’s a wide range of shops and local produce on offer here as well as an award-winning beach plus a museum which showcases the rich heritage of this Scottish fishing town.
